Senior Social Worker

As a Senior Social Worker, you will function as the primary case manager for Veterans residing in a HUD-VASH Project Based Housing program, and serve as a liaison between the housing authority, property management, and the VA. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Performing regular home visits of HUD-VASH project based apartments to ensure that veterans reside in environments that foster independence and safety in the community. Verifying veterans' status, eligibility for BA medical care, and eligibility of program participation. Providing a full range of services within commonly accepted standards of practice which includes case work, individual, family, and group counseling, discharge planning, case management, and other services as appropriate. You will also conduct psychosocial assessments to determine needs to Veterans and family members. Providing consultation/education to veterans and families on community resources, advance directives, and VA benefits. Reviewing agreements between landlords, Public Housing Authorities, and the VA in establishing appropriate referral sites for HUD-VASH placements. You will work closely with resident managers and the project management teams assigned to the project-based facility and communicate needs or issues when they arise. Collaborating with VA Medical Center multi-disciplinary teams and community agencies to strive for developing more effective and efficient ways of delivering healthcare services to Veterans in the HUD-VASH program through coordination of treatment and communication. Collecting and submitting HUD-VASH Program participant data. Actively participating in program planning and development, advising the supervisor of shifting trends with caseloads and identifying the need for program procedures or policy changes based upon work experiences. Providing supervision to students, interns, or less experienced social workers as appropriate. Regular driving of a government issued vehicle is required. Work Schedule:

00am - 4:

A master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Licensure/Certification:
Senior social workers must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level which included an advanced generalist or clinical examination, unless they are grandfathered by the state in which they are licensed to practice at the advanced practice level (except for licenses in California, which administer its own clinical examination for advanced practice) and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation). Experience with the veteran population, and knowledge of area homeless resources is preferred. Grade Determinations:

Experience:
Must have at least two (2) years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure and should be in a specialized area of social work practice of which, one year must be equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Senior social workers have experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. Senior social workers are experts in their specialized area of practice, and may have certification or other post-masters training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience in a specialty. In addition to the experience above, candidates must also demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
Skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in specialty treatment programs or with special patient populations. This includes individual, group, and/or family counseling or psychotherapy and advanced level psychosocial and/or case management. Ability to incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice. Knowledge in developing and implementing methods for measuring effectiveness of social work practice and services in the specialty area, utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment services and to design system changes. Ability to provide specialized consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients in the service delivery area, as well as role modeling effective social work practice skills. Ability to expand clinical knowledge in the social work profession, and to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines pertaining to the service delivery area. References:

Social Worker Qualification Standard Physical Requirements:
Light lifting and carrying (under 15 lbs); operation of motor vehicle; near vision correctable at 13 to 16 to Jaeger 1 to 4; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; ability to distinguish basic colors; hearing (aid permitted).

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
