Lead Dental Assistant

Works closely with supervisor or Dental Service Chief providing and monitoring work assignments. Provides insight on employee performance, resolves workplace issues and maintains efficient patient care flow. Provides training to staff, students and or trainees. Ensures employee tasks are completed, working relationships among teams members and management are maintained. Ensures priorities, goals, and achievements are coordinated with management. Assist the dentist in aspects of direct patient care, clinical and clerical functions independent of direct supervision. The lead organizes and maintains Material Safety Data Sheets(MSDS). Provides Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for staff on Reusable Medical Equipment. Provides promotions, reassignment, and performance recognition recommendations to supervisor. Maintains and assures dental station and treatment area are in clean, operational condition. Monitors functioning dental equipment and requests repair and or replacement when needed. Assist in routine general dental procedures using concepts of four-handed dentistry. Assist with specialized dental procedures, such as prosthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, and implant placement and restoration. Provides imaging techniques and instructions to staff and team members. Demonstrates setting up and cleaning operations for proper infection control procedures. Works closely with SPD to ensure availability of instruments for clinical care. Assist dentist in charting findings and treatment plans in patient records. Participates in patient identification and Joint Commission requirements. Assists in direct patient care such as monitoring patient vital signs, application of topical anesthetic at the injection site and makes impressions for diagnostic casts and preliminary impressions for prosthetic fabrication. Experience (1) Experience. 1 year experience that demonstrates ability, knowledge, and skill to perform the work, and provides familiarity with the work. Education (2) Education. Successful completion of a 1-year dental assistant program accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) . (3) Certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). The American Dental Association (ADA) recognizes DANB as a the national certification for Dental Assistants. DANB certification is required for all positions above the full performance level (this vacancy is above full performance level). May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation). All persons employed in VHA in this occupation on the effective date of this qualification standard are considered to have met all qualification requirements for the title, series and grade held, including certification (for positions above the full performance level) that are part of the basic requirements of the occupation. For employees who do not meet all the basic requirements required in this standard, but who met the qualifications applicable to the position at the time they were appointed to it.
Experience:
Must possess one (1) year of experience equivalent to the next lower graded level GS-6. Qualifying experience included by may not be limited to:
Assignments at this level include, but are not limited to:
using the concepts of four-handed dentistry; assists with specialty procedures including oral surgery, periodontal therapy, endodontic, prosthodontic and implant placement and restoration; anticipates surgeons/specialists needs at each stage of treatment; takes preliminary impressions; selects and manipulates a variety of gypsums and waxes; pours, trims and evaluates the quality of diagnostic casts; fabricates custom trays. Grade Determinations:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
