Do you love working with people of all ages? Our Recreation Services Supervisors are a major part of our recreation team.
You will Supervises recreation activities at one or more parks or facilities.
You must have knowledge of parks and recreation programs and activities; knowledge of principles and practices of supervision; the ability to supervise, train, develop, and motivate staff; the ability to market and promote recreation activities and programs to the public.

We are looking for individuals to add to our team with excellent customer service skills and that love working with people.
You will supervise Recreation Services Leaders in carrying out recreation activities.
You will be responsible for the planning, developing, organizing, implementing and evaluating comprehensive recreational park program.
With these skills we will offer an exciting work environment with a supportive recreation team with considerable room for growth within Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation.
Essential Job Functions Plans and develops specialized recreation programs such as arts and crafts, nature study, theater arts, music, dance, athletics, and water activities for use on a local or regional basis.
Plans and develops specialized recreation programs for the public for use on a local or agency basis.
Supervises the development of a variety of park, facility, and community center recreation activities.
Directs the planning of special events and programs such as holiday, cultural, athletic, educational, and special community events.
Develops community interest in recreational activities and maintains or assists with maintaining liaison with community groups, local agencies, other County departments, elected officials, and other groups on major local, agency, or countywide recreation programs.
Oversees the scheduling of games, tournaments and athletic meets for a local, district or agency area.
Seeks sponsorship of athletic events and special programs from businesses, corporations, or private parties and groups.
Represents the department to the community and writes press release materials for special events.
Inspects facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness and proper operation; directs the repair of equipment.
Recruits, trains, assigns, and supervises subordinate staff or volunteers in recreation and parks services.
Accounts for and deposits fees or funds collected from programs or other fund-raising activities.
Will serve as liaison to other public and private nationally recognized SCUBA agencies.
Will maintain records and quality control for entry level SCUBA Program.
Requirements SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
OPTION 1 Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor s degree or higher and one year of experience conducting or assisting in the development and delivery of recreation programs.
Each additional year of experience will substitute for one year of college up to a maximum of two years.
Option 2 Two years experience at the level of Recreation Service Leader There will be no out of class experience accepted for this exam.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
In order to receive credit for any college course work, or any type of college degree, you must include a legible copy of the official diploma, official transcripts, or official letter from the accredited institution which shows the area of specialization with your application or within 7 calendar days of filing your application.
Please note that applicants who will meet the college course work or degree requirement by June 30, 2023 may also apply but will be withheld from the certification list until all requirements are met and a copy of the degree, official transcript, or equivalency report by an academic credential evaluation agency is submitted.

Applicants who have completed 60 semester/90 quarter units from an accredited college, must have three years of the required experience.
Applicants who have completed 90 semester/135 quarter units from an accredited college, must have one years of the required experience.
Option 2:
Recreation Services Leader, coordinates or organizes recreation and program activities at one or more parks or facilities under direct supervision.
Has the ability to plan a large community event.
Has knowledge of advertisement and marketing for community events, and knowledge of the purchase order system and creating RQNs.
Has the ability to obtain quotes for supplies and materials from vendors and, manage park's portable inventory.
Has knowledge of attendance reports for staff and scheduling.
PHYSICAL CLASS:
2 - Light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting.
Considerable ambulation may be involved.

Part II - A Structured Interview, weighted 40%, assessing:
Professional/Technical Knowledge Customer Focus Office Computing Oral Communication Interpersonal Skills Teamwork Project Management Financial Management Ability to Effectively Supervise Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on each weighted part of the examination in order to be placed on the eligible list.
